Description
Finesse, or riding with contact, is the fourth Parelli Savvy, and the one that relates most directly to performance. Whether you’re an English or Western rider, developing an understanding of bit contact is essential to becoming a well-rounded, skilled horseman. Even if performance sports aren’t in your future, the skills and techniques you develop by incorporating the bit will advance your riding in leaps and bounds. At the same time you’re developing those skills, your relationship with your horse will grow stronger by the day. After all, the mouth is the most mentally, emotionally and physically sensitive area of the horse’s body, so to get your horse to willingly accept bit contact requires true trust and respect. That’s what you will learn with Finesse: what it takes to achieve excellence as a rider.

Finesse includes five DVDs (Level-by-Level lessons from Pat Parelli, as well as student lessons). Along with the DVDs, Finesse includes a 24-page Savvy Manual that explains the “what” and the “why” of Finesse, and a 19-page Student Booklet, which explains the “how.”

The Student Pack also includes three pocket guides and a Patterns map. With this expansive collection of all things Finesse, you’ll have everything you need to solve precision problems and become the graceful, athletic, savvy rider of your dreams.

Auditing another student's lesson
9/22/2014 7:33:04 am by Diana R from US

I have watched only the 4th Level Finesse DVD, so I am not reviewing the entire package, but this DVD reminded me of something that has bothered me for a while, having been a savvy club member for over ten years. I do not feel that I get as much from watching another student have a lesson as from a more formally organized presentation on a specific topic. Much of the unrehearsed conversation concerns the peculiarities of that person and horse. It is unfocused and covers fewer points that can be made in a prepared presentation, so you end up spending more time learning less that is useful. It is often boring. It is sometimes maddening to sit through dumbly while the instructor and student work through some miscommunication. Even if the DVD had to be shorter because it takes more preparation, I'd get more out of a lecture/presentation and watching the expert rather than a student execute and demonstrate the maneuvers. I know that having us audit another student's lesson with Pat or Linda is a big part of the program, but for this package, I'd hoped not to have that.

WOW, I have LOVED watching the Finesse DVD's. The DVD's are great to give a picture of what it should look like and the student lesson DVD's are terrific with Pat coaching clear steps and trouble shooting areas. The book and pocket guides are my favourite too - its like a step ladder explaining all the steps. Love the quality - well done Parelli Team and Thank you!!
