Hackamore with Black Reins
How to Attach Horseman's Rein to the Natural Hackamore
Our Natural Hackamore is hand-tied and crafted from soft-yet-durable rope and combines a halter, loop reins and a 12-Foot lead rope in one effective piece of tack that can be used on the ground or in the saddle.
The Natural Hackamore is available in the following colors with Black
Reins: Red, Blue, Black, Hunter Green, Pink, Purple, Brown and Vaquero.
The rope you usually see used for halters and leads is typically nylon yachting rope and was never designed to withstand the unique challenges an equine application presents. Nylon rope stretches, can become stiff with use, increases in size over time and absorbs unwanted moisture. The 100% polyester rope used at Parelli has been specifically engineered with horsemanship use in mind. Parelli rope is dirt, sweat, mildew, rot and UV resistant. This means that your rope will stay truer to it's original form longer, without fading, stretching, popping or elongating.
Watch how to tie a Hackamore knot:
ARABIAN FITS: 13 hand petite Egyptian arabs with a tea-cup nose, quarter horse-size yearlings. If your horse's nose is larger than your fist, a REGULAR halter is recommended.
MINI/FOAL FITS: Miniatures under 34", Falabella
DRAFT FITS: Percheron, Belgian, Clydesdale, Shire (or very large-headed horses)
REGULAR FITS: Generally horses 14-15.3 hands - Fell, Highland, Icelandic, New Forest and Cob
PONY WEANLING FITS: Shetland, Welsh
WARMBLOOD FITS: Generally horses 16-18 hands - Trakehner, Dutch Warmblood, Selle Francais, Friesian, Hanoverian, Holsteiner, Oldenburg, Irish Draught, Lipizzan, warmblood crosses (except draft)
The Natural Hackamore is constructed of the same soft rope as the Horseman's Halter with reins made of the same half-inch line as the 12-Foot Line.
*The reins combine a 9-Foot Loop Rein with an additional 12-Foot Line so you have both reins and a lead rope in one, an ideal combination for ground skills and riding.
The concept is to stay out of the horse's mouth until he understands how to follow the feel of the reins. As you start spending more time riding your horse and less time on the ground, you'll find the Natural Hackamore ideal. It is perfect for teaching people and horses to feel and respond without damaging a sensitive mouth.
I ride endurance and have been for 9 years , and only in my Parelli Hackamore, works great on my arab. I have started my young horse and he also only needs the hackamore. Love the weight and feel :-)
I love this hackamore and feel just as safe riding in it as I do with a bit! The online savvy has really helped Wickles learn to be responsive with the softest touch of the halter and it has transferred beautifully to our freestyle savvy. It is a great way to build your relationship and this hackamore is very durable and weather resistant. I've had mine for over a year and it still looks brand new!!!
